Braavos Wallet offers multiple methods to enhance the security of your crypto assets through biometric authentication. Depending on your device and preferences, you can choose from the following options:
1. Passkey Signer (Biometric 2FA on Desktop Browsers)
The Passkey Signer utilizes your device’s biometric capabilities (like fingerprint or facial recognition) to authorize transactions.
To enable Passkey Signer:
- Open the Braavos Wallet Extension and navigate to the account settings.
- Go to “Starknet Account security”.
- Check the box next to Hardware Signer, then tap Set Security.
- Select Add Passkey Signer
- Sign the transaction to complete setup.
2. Hardware Signer (Biometric 2FA on Mobile Devices)
The Hardware Signer leverages your mobile device’s secure hardware module (like Apple’s Secure Enclave or Android’s Trusted Execution Environment) to store private keys and authorize transactions using biometrics.
To enable Hardware Signer:
- Open the Braavos Wallet app on your mobile device.
- Go to “Starknet Account security”.
- Check the box next to Hardware Signer, then tap Set Security.
- Tap on Add Hardware Signer.
- Sign the transaction to complete setup.
3. Multi Signer (3FA)
For maximum security, Braavos offers a 3FA setup that requires signatures from both mobile and browser extension.
To enable 3FA:
- Open the Braavos Wallet Extension and navigate to the account settings.
- Go to “Starknet Account security”.
- Click on the Switcher next to Multi-Signer, then tap Set Security.
- A QR code will appear. Open the Braavos mobile app and scan the QR code using the app.
- Check the box confirming that your seed phrase is backed up
- Click “Next” and Sign the transaction
With 3FA enabled, transactions will require approvals from both your desktop (Passkey) and mobile device (Hardware Signer), along with your seed phrase for recovery purposes.
Note: Always ensure your devices are secure and that you have backups of your seed phrase stored safely offline.
